Open the installer
Double-click the downloaded .exe in your Downloads folder.

Sondra installs in a few seconds — there's nothing to configure.

Launch Sondra
Open it from the Start menu and start editing. The first launch downloads the media engine once.

- A 64-bit Intel or AMD processor
- 4 GB of RAM or more
- About 200 MB of free disk space, plus room for your files
Private by design
Sondra runs entirely on your computer. Your files never leave your machine — no upload, no account, no tracking. The only thing it fetches is the media engine (FFmpeg), once, on first launch.
Automatic updates
Sondra checks for new versions on its own and lets you know inside the app when one is ready — you can update in a click. You can also check any time from Settings.

Is it really free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use — no account, no watermark, no trial limit.
Do my files get uploaded?
No. Everything happens on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
Which formats does it support?
Video: MP4, MKV, MOV, WebM. Audio: MP3, AAC, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG, Opus. Plus animated GIF.
Is there a Mac or Linux version?
Not yet — Sondra is Windows-only for now.
Windows warned me about the installer — is that normal?
New apps can trigger a SmartScreen prompt until they build reputation. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. It’s the exact file published on this page.
How do updates work?
Sondra tells you inside the app when a new version is available and can download and install it for you.
